Our darling son finally noticed Cass was gone this morning. The conversation went something like this:
Ben, looking around our bedroom, "Hey, Dad, where's Cass? Where'd Cass go?"
Daddy, gingerly trying not to upset our son and send him in a grieving downward spiral, "She went to live with Heavenly Father, buddy."
Ben, "Oh," and carelessly went running down the hall with a giant smile on his face.
Is he wonderfully simple in his youth or does he remember someplace wonderful that we have all forgotten in our old age... :)
I love your last point. What a wonderful thought... that kids aren't oblivious to death, but that they just know that there's nothing to be sad about!
